So, I just saw the latest television promo for the new Harrison Ford movie Firewall.
Here's my question: when did Indiana Jones turn into the Michael Bolton of Hollywood? Has he even shown his acting muscle in the past decade, let alone stretched it? Somewhere along the way he started phoning it in, which is a shame. Maybe Ally McBeal has something to do with it...

Sphere
The cheesy sci-fi weekend continues with Sphere on UPN at 3am.
The fact that its on UPN at 3am should say it all.
And the sad thing is, that show Thresold (is it even still on?) is a total rip off of this movie.

The Cave
Sorry I haven't been doing many updates lately... I've been on this Muppet kick lately and I didn't think anyone wanted to hear me rant about Fraggles.
So anyway, tonight I saw the Cave. Let's not beat around the bush here... This movie was complete crap. Might by good as a Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie, but beyond that, this film has no redeeming qualities.
Except maybe the ending credits. (Such wit...)

MOVIE TASTE DISCLAIMER
I thought I should offer up my readers a little disclaimer about my taste in movies. First off, I like what I like. Whether its pure cheese, deep drama, or the finest kung-fu action, I like what I like.
Also, with the amount of movies I watch, I have to take each movie at face value. For example, I rented, watched and enjoyed Elektra, hailed as one of the worst movies of the year. Did people expect it to be an Oscar winner? On the same token, I rented Catwoman, which truly was one of (if not THE) worst movie of the year.
I believe that just because a movie is bad, it doesn't mean you can't squeeze some enjoyment out of it.

The Island
This movie was way better than I thought it would be... however, it really breaks down into two seperate movies. The first half plays out as an interesting and visually stunning sci-fi movie, subtly asking about the morality of cloning. The second half is pure action, with car chases and explosions, but done with a certain amount of finesse not seen in many movies of the same genre. Recently, a certain movie critic asked if Scarlett Johansson has the acting ability to carry the parts she has been getting. Ability or not, she certainly has the screen presence to keep all eyes on her.
If action/sci-fi is your thing, you might want to give this movie a go. Its fun.

Nick Fury and the something, something...
Caught the 2nd half of this movie on Fox. All I have to say is David Hasselhoff in an eye patch. Check out this fine dialog...
"Nick, I thought you were dead!"
"I was. But I got better."
Makes the Masters of the Universe movie with Dolph Lundgren look like Schindler's List

Exorcism of Emily Rose
More courtroom thriller than horror, this movie was everything I wasn't expecting. Asks alot of questions about personal faith and made me want to research the real case which the movie was based on. Very cool.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Pure fun. I loved this movie. It won't win any Oscars, and it won't raise your IQ, but it is so much fun to watch. Pitt and Jolie have great chemistry (I bet the sex is great) and the action sequences are fresh and fun.
Great popcorn movie.
