Ellie's life is nothing if not complex, a virtual roller coaster of moments. You feel that the struggling actress could possibly be on the verge, and the anticipation is a bit uncomfortable to watch. But I think, that's kind of the point. That desperation is something every artist feels even if they are less drama queen in nature. In the end, Ellie is lovable despite of all her flaws, or maybe even possibly because of them.
